Handmade slippers

You all know how much I love making things for the children or our home but it’s not often I make any thing for myself. I was contacted by Amanda who owns Joe’s Toes, selling felt slipper kits, slippers and felt accessories, and asked if I would like to try a kit out. I chose a gorgeous slipper kit in seasonal red.

I’d love to say I slaved over the slippers but I really didn’t. The kit contained everything I needed to make a pair of slippers – outsole, midsole, insole, upper, wool and needle.

Last night I sat down after a really busy day, got out my kit and set to work whilst watching the XFactor (don’t judge me!). Within an hour I had finished and had a lovely new pair of slippers. I must admit I made a little mistake in matching up the holes on one of the slippers but it was easy to unpick a couple of stitches and start again.

What do you think? I absolutely love them. The felt is lovely and soft and cosy, and the colour is very Christmassy. My children were intrigued that I was making something to wear and I’m going to have to capitalise on that and get them stitching. Amanda kindly included a couple of stitching squares and colourful thread so they can have a go too.

Joe’s Toes stock felt slipper kits -in adult sizes 3 -10 as well as some ready made. They also sell iPad sleeve kits and a selection of pretty buttons and felt shapes for your own creations. Why not take a look and treat yourself!

These are such a great idea! I think I might have to get a kit for my mother in law, myself and a few friends.
Great job on yours. Thanks for sharing 🙂 x
