days out Local Review London

Preschoolers and the London Aquarium

Today we were invited to take a special tour of the Sea Life London Aquarium. I jumped at the chance as we’d been before and loved it, and I knew the toddler would enjoy it even more being a bit older.

Preschoolers and the London Aquarium

This was our third trip into central London in 4 days so we were all feeling a little tired but we had a great time. As soon as we arrived at the London Aquarium we were greeted by a penguin (not a real one, obviously!) and the toddler was given a pair of paper goggles and a Dive Log Book to stamp as we went round.

Then we were off on an epic visit with an 18 month old who wanted to walk and a 3 year old who wanted to sit in the buggy. Fortunately the London Aquarium is massive (14 themed zones over 3 floors), so even though it was busy there was plenty of space to move around. Both children enjoyed themselves, particularly the Ray Lagoon as the glass sides meant they had an amazing view. Little Sis loved it.

I enjoyed the view too!

And the toddler was enthralled.

We also saw sharks, jellyfish, pirahnas, clownfish, terrapins, penguins and a crocodile! There were plenty of places to sit down which was great as the children did a lot of walking. It was actually quite lovely just being able to sit and watch the animals moving around in the bigger tanks. We were also able to touch a beautiful starfish but the toddler said he “wasn’t quite big enough” to touch it, so I did.

After our guided tour we were able to sit down to lunch and some activities. The children both did some colouring before munching on some sandwiches, popping balloons and spilling their drinks on the floor!

I would definitely recommend the London Aquarium as a great day out. The place is huge so we concentrated on the larger tanks and displays which were totally accessible to my small people. However there are over 65 displays so you could easily spend a whole day there. I loved hearing my toddler explaining our day out to his daddy when we got home. It was certainly a day he’ll remember for a long time.

Big thanks to London Aquarium for arranging our visit.

We are a little too far away from London, but we have a super Oceanarium near us. Knowing how much fun my kiddos have there, I’m sure yours had an absolute blast! If we ever pop to London, we will add it to our list of adventures!
