Up inspired moving card

My sister is moving to the country cottage of her dreams this weekend. When we visited a couple of weekends ago we drove out to see it and it is lovely, a typical ancient cottage and it even had a stable door for the front door with roses growing around it! We thought we would make her a card as she is really excited about moving from town to country.

I set up everything the toddler needed – a paint tray, big dollops of his favourite colours and some corks. We’ve painted with corks before and they’re the perfect size for his little hands.

painting with corks

He loves painting so after he had played with them for a couple of minutes I gave him a piece of paper with an outline of a large balloon. We’ve been watching a lot of Pixar films lately and Up is one of our favourites so our card was definitely inspired by the film. The toddler got to work, filling the balloon with the different colours of paint, then we set it aside to dry.

handmade new home card

The next day I drew in a little country cottage and we sent it on it’s way via Parcelforce. We put a little care package together to go with it – yummy home made biscuits, a copy of Country Living and some Cath Kidston tea towels . Jealous? Not me as it’ll be our turn next, but we’ll be getting the best of both worlds, swapping surburban Zone 3 for country Zone 6!

Just thought I’d let you know I included a link to your cork painting on my personal blog. Such a cute idea! Thanks for the post!
