Christmas handmade swap

An Advent swap

Signing up for festive swaps seemed like a good idea in the months before Christmas and my favourite was the Advent swap, organised by Hookin’ with Laalaa.

The idea was simple – to buy, make, gift or thrift 24 small gifts for your partner to open each day of the advent. These could be very inexpensive, or even free (think skincare samples or teabags!). The parcel was also to include a larger gift for your partner to open on Christmas Day. The swap was fun to collect for and I ended up with lots of little gifts which I put aside in a box, tailored for my partner Fiona.

One evening I sat down and wrapped up all the gifts using brown paper and baker’s twine – a theme which ran through all my gift wrapping this year. I then stamped each parcel with a festive stamp and wrote a number on them, one for each day of Advent.

I loved opening my swap parcel. Fiona had sent me lovely, thoughtful gifts, which included chocolate, gifts for both the children, a bracelet handmade  by her and a beautiful baby book to open on Christmas Day.  She had wrapped the gifts and written a little note on each one so I enjoyed reading the hint before I opened them.

I loved this swap which helped me get in the mood for Christmas and I’ll definitely be signing up again this year!
