Decorate Your Own Gingerbread Man

Regardless of the time of year I love gingerbread but to most people it has strong connections with the festive season. I’ve definitely been enjoying a glut of gingerbread products on the shelves at the supermarket and Bespoke Foods’ new Gingerbread Man promises lots of edible DIY fun.

The Gingerbread Man kit contains all you need to decorate your own gingerbread man – one large gingerbread man, icing in an icing bag and sweets to decorate.

Gingerbread has been made in Germany since the middle ages when spices were brought into Europe on the spice route through Germany. This gingerbread man is made from authentic German gingerbread, made by the Pertzborn family who have been making gingerbread for generations.

I couldn’t quite believe how big the gingerbread man was but I guess it makes it easier to decorate if you have more than one child! The icing bag is easy to use and the kit contains sweeties to decorate, although you can add your own for more variety. The gingerbread can dry out quite quickly so it is suggested that you place it in a moist place (like a kitchen) before eating.

It tasted quite yummy although different from the usual gingerbread I’m used to as it was quite hard on the outside but also crumbly. The ingredients include brown sugar syrup, wheat flour, rye flour and spices. Recommended for a good festive activity!

Little Sis meets her first gingerbread man!

Disclosure – we were provided with a Gingerbread Man, which retails at £6, for the purpose of review.

Gosh, that’s nearly as big as Little Sis! Bet it tastes lovely too. Pity it’s not a cuddly version for her. Now there’s a thought!
