Candy garland – good enough to eat

My Christmas decoration making has begun! One of my favourite craft books is Fa la la la Felt which is full of festive inspiration, from ornaments, decorations and stockings. I’ve made a couple of projects from it, including the felt bird garland, as I just love working with felt.

We’re not quite sure how to decorate our house this year with a toddler who can’t help but touch everything, but I would like to have a colour scheme. Red and white always seem very Christmassy which is why I liked the look of the Christmas Candy Garland.

It’s a simple project which I adapted slightly. I made 50 candy sweets by rolling strips of red and white felt. I then threaded them onto embroidery thread, placing red and white beads in between each sweet.

Edward hasn’t tried to eat these (yet!) and they look great threaded through our bannister or along the mantelpiece. It feels like I’m one step closer to getting organised!

I love that garland, it is very beautiful. I haven’t even got round to thinking of Christmas yet but I may think of trying this 🙂

That’s very cute! Hard to believe it’s time to get the Christmas stuff ready if I want to actually make anything new (or make anything for gifts). It never feels like Christmas in Florida, so I usually am very late getting started! But I love this little garland, very clever!

Wow – that’s so lovely and so different. And you’re obviously much more organised about this whole Christmas thing than me! x

What a great idea for a garland… although not sure it would last through to Christmas in my house!

I like that garland. It’s quite festive. If you made a version in brown and white, it would look like a row of slices of chocolate swiss roll 😀
