I have been fortunate enough to have cut my working days down to four since the beginning of the year. I’ve mainly been spending my free days relaxing on the sofa. Today the sun was shining so I took myself off to my local high street to finish buying the things I needed for my hospital bag.
- a new nightdress and dressing gown (cheap from Primark!)
- clothes to go home in
- maternity towels
- new pants (again, cheap from Primark!)
- new toiletries (so we’re not fighting over who takes the toothpaste!)
- flashy video camera (which was a Christmas present)
- green Hospital book and birthing plan
- notebook and pen so I can write down everything that happened
- towel
- cleaning wipes (I’ve heard the toilets/showers are never that clean!)
- plastic bag to put dirty clothes in
- bottles of lucozade and water
- energy tablets and snacks
- Rescue Remedy spray
- lipbalm
- water spray (because the labour ward is really hot)
- bodysuits, babygros (three of each – just in case)
- hat and scratch mits
- baby blanket
- newborn nappies and cotton wool
Wow, written down that’s quite a lot of stuff and it doesn’t fit in the bag I planned to take! Oh well, a bag for me and a bag for baby.
