Counting down

We’re currently counting down until Little Sis’ first birthday. I’m not sure where the year has gone, it’s been fun but not without it’s difficulties. Her cheeky little smile seems to have got me through the worst of the sleepless nights and days of screaming. Yes, my child is not perfect and has only just started sleeping through without waking!

So far, the handmade birthday card has been sent in to CBeebies, 6 weeks early as requested.

We’ve had a dry run with making Peppa Pig biscuits. The final version were flooded with pink icing but I forgot to photograph them.

Peppa Pig biscuits

The presents have been bought and a few personalised (Peppa Pig) cards made.

You may notice there’s a bit of a theme going on. I’m sure her brother didn’t have any favourites at this age but she absolutely adores Peppa Pig. If she hears the theme tune she’ll swivel round and watch transfixed!

I’ve spent the last few nights working on a Blurb photo book for her first year. I was contacted a while ago but couldn’t think of what kind of photo book to make. But then I remembered the toddlers’ half-finished birthday book I’ve been making myself. I never seem to have the time to finish it so I thought a photo book would be brilliant. The only difficulty has been picking which photos to include.

So far it’s been quite simple to upload my photos and make a layout of each page using BookSmart. I’ll write a bit more about it when I have the finished book but if you want to try it for yourself I have a great discount code which will give you 20% off – just use the code NOEL20 when you check out.

Rastamouse and Da Easy Crew

The only mouse I ever want to see in my house is the new plush Rastamouse from Character Options! This crime fighting Rastafarian rodent and his posse, Da Easy Crew, have become modern day heroes in many a household. Edward was very lucky to be sent the new plush and a Rastamouse DVD which have only just been launched.

The plush Rastamouse is great fun – press his tummy and he speaks! He’ll sing and call out phrases in his own unique way. Scratchy and Zoomer are also available. The toy is a firm favourite with Edward who loves to hear him speak. He’s taking pride of place in his room and we woke to the sounds of Rastamouse floating over the baby monitor this morning!

This soggy half term is perfect for staying in and watching a DVD so yesterday we watched Da Crucial Plan & Other Adventures. The DVD includes 6 episodes (Da Crucial Plan, Bakin’ an Breakin’, Mice Camera Action, Da Rhymin’ Teef, Pie Widout Cheese and Toots Re-Routes), as well as some sing along songs and activity pages. We enjoyed watching the episodes, our favourite was definitely Mice Camera Action!

Rastamouse was launched in January 2011 and is aired daily on cBeebies, our favourite channel. It’s also the number one show on cBeebies iPlayer. The Rastamouse plush toys are available from Tesco and cost just £12.99. The toys and DVD were released this week.
