Orla Kiely water bottle

Olive and Orange by Orla Kiely

Posted on May 26, 2016February 16, 2020 by jenny

My Stay-at-Home-Mum budget is pretty small and doesn’t often allow for big treats but I have been lusting after the new Orla Kiely and Halfords collaboration since it was announced earlier this year. The Olive and Orange collection consists of cycling, cycling accessories, as well as tents and camping accessories, all in Orla’s signature style.

So far in my life I’ve resisted all my husband’s attempts to make me even consider camping. A few years ago we went “glamping” and although bits were wonderful all I remember is the distinct lack of hot water and electricity – not good for a 21st century girl like me!

Anyway, despite my fear of camping I have been waiting for the Olive and Orange collection to be launched. I’ve been admiring the collection online and picked a few items for my wish list – one of the water bottles, the picnic rug and cool bag. Luckily for me my husband kindly bought them and I was so happy to see them up close (and share them on Instagram!).

I’ve been using the water bottle and today I got the picnic rug and cool bag out. The Orla Kiely picnic rug is gorgeous. I chose it in pink and everyone loves it. It’s huge, definitely big enough for a family of 4, so I can’t wait to use it on days out.

I’m not so impressed with the cool bag. I got one to match the print of the picnic rug and it looks lovely. Unfortunately the inside hasn’t been stitched properly at all and there are loose pieces of lining and lengths of thread poking out which is a real shame. The cool bag costs £20 but we have ones which are a lot cheaper and sturdier. Looks like we’ll be going away for half term with just the picnic rug!

Have you bought anything from this range? If so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I am an Orlaholic, my house is full or Orla Kiely stuff and I saved my money for this range so I bought the Olive bicycle and all of the matching bike accessories … I did stress out trying to choose which bike to get. Some of the camping things are next on my list but I’ve blown my budget so they will have to wait. I absolutely love that picnic rug but ours always get dirty and I think I’d turn into godzilla if someone spilled a drink on my Orla blanket!! Love this range… but I’m a bit obsessed.

I love the design of the print on this collection, which really shows in the picnic rug. It’s a shame that the cool bag wasn’t up to the standard you’d expect from this range.
