Monday happy things

Posted on June 8, 2015February 6, 2016 by jenny

I’m not sure why Monday always surprises me but it does. I had the laziest weekend possible as I really needed to recharge my batteries and now I’m ready to share my Monday Happy Things.

Yesterday I finished piecing all the hexagons for my union flag quilt. My 3 year old really wants me to finish ‘her’ quilt and was keen to photo bomb my photographs this morning.  I’m going to add a panel of solid to either side of the pieced union flag to make it large enough to cover her bed. I just need to find time to go fabric shopping at some point as I would love to finish this project now.

On Friday I found some gorgeous fabric in the London Transport Museum shop. We visited to find out more about the Mr. Men Little Miss trail but just had to buy this Mini Moderns fabric produced to celebrate the Year of The Bus last year. The fabric is printed with the Year of the Bus “Push Once” design, featuring the old stop button from buses that no longer run. I thought I could upcycle it into a cushion which would go perfectly with my other London themed cushions.

Top of my list this week is using the Cath Kidston iron on letter I bought to decorate a tshirt for my daughter. She’s currently learning her letters so I thought this would be fun for her.

I also bought some adorable Miffy fabrics from Japan and I have been trying to think what to make with them. I know it’s bad to buy fabric without having a project but I couldn’t resist! I can’t decide between some fussy cutting for a quilt or a small dolls quilt. Or perhaps I could frame some pieces for my daughter’s room, I’m really not sure!

Over the weekend I finished Coming up Roses by Rachael Lucas. I really enjoy reading her other books, Sealed with a Kiss and Sealed with a Christmas Kiss. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for an easy read and it has totally inspired me to get out on my garden.

I love that quilt and the fabrics from Japan are super cute, no wonder you couldn’t stop yourself from buying them! I espp like the Push Once print and had no idea that was how the buses operated early on!

Wow, that quilt looks mazing, I really want to get into quilting at some point so I can make one of each of my girlies.
