Afternoon tea with the stars of The Furchester Hotel

Posted on April 10, 2015September 2, 2022 by jenny

The Furchester Hotel made its debut on CBeebies in September and was the number one rated new children’s show last autumn.  Aimed at 3 to 6 year-olds the show follows a close-knit family of cheerful Muppet monsters who own and operate an ‘almost’ world-class hotel.

About The Furchester Hotel

The proprietors are Funella Furchester, her loving husband, Furgus Fuzz and their daughter, the unflappable Phoebe Furchester-Fuzz. The Furchester family is joined at the hotel by Phoebe’s cousin Elmo, who is on an extended visit, and Cookie Monster, who has landed his dream job as room service and dining-room waiter, both from Sesame Street.

The Furchester Hotel toy event

We had a brilliant end to our Easter holiday, spending the afternoon at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel having afternoon tea with Elmo. Elmo is a firm friend of Big Brother who first met him 4 years ago when the new Let’s Rock Elmo toy was launched in the UK.

This week Elmo has been back in the UK for a family visit.  To coincide with new episodes of hit CBeebies’ series The Furchester Hotel in May and the launch of a new The Furchester Hotel toy range from Hasbro, Elmo has been catching up with his Aunt Funella and Phoebe.  They have been taking in some of the sights and sounds of the capital, learning the ropes at a top London hotel (the Millennium Mayfair Hotel where we had afternoon tea), and guesting on radio and TV.

We had a lovely time this afternoon and were able to watch one of the new episodes of The Furchester Hotel (which will be on CBeebies in May), enjoyed an amazing afternoon tea and also had the chance to meet Elmo, Funella and Phoebe! Both my children were a little shy at first but were soon tickling Elmo and chatting away.

The Furchester Hotel has also recently launched an adorable new toy range from HASBRO aimed at 12 months and upwards including 9’,11’ and 20’ inch plush characters and a single figure assortment. Over afternoon tea we were able to see the new toys and Big Brother was kindly given a plush Cookie Monster and Little Sis a plush Phoebe to bring home. The toy range is super soft for little hands and we had fun taking Cookie Monster and Phoebe home on the tube.

New episodes of The Furchester Hotel will be shown on CBeebies in May and the toys are available in all good toy shops or online.
