Monday happy things

Although I swore I wouldn’t start getting excited about Christmas until the 1st of December I admit I may have slipped. This weekend we were invited to a preview of Get Santa, a festive film which is out on December 5th. It features some brilliant British actors such as Jim Broadbent, Rafe Spall, Joanna Scanlan and Warwick Davis and is a really fun family film. Basically, a young boy finds Santa Claus in the shed at the bottom of his garden after he has crash landed his fancy new sleigh. Santa enlists the boy and his father to get the reindeer, held in Richmond Park, and help him get back to delivering presents before Christmas is cancelled for children all over the world. We all loved it so much we’ll probably go and see it again.

There’s been Christmas crafting too. This weekend we baked and decorated a gingerbread tree. The children have been busy drawing and crafting gingerbread houses and thumbprint robins too.

The lovely people at Hotel Chocolat sent me one of their beautiful milk chocolate Advent calendars. It arrived wrapped in tissue paper in a pretty paper bag. So far I’ve resisted opening any of the doors but I’m not sure if it will last until December 1st. It contains 24 chocolate Christmas sculptures which I’m sure I’ll be sharing on my Instagram feed through December.

Whilst we were in the West End we had fun looking for some of the 50 Paddington Bear statues on the Paddington Trail. Each of the Paddington statues has been designed by a celebrity to celebrate the launch of the new Paddington film. The statues can be found around London until the end of December when they will be auctioned off to raise money for the NSPCC. We’re all excited about the new film (Little Sis has demanded we see it as her birthday treat) and the children loved looking for the bears.

I was happy to see the new Sherlock Holmes exhibition at the Museum of London. It was a bit photograph heavy but the Sherlock Holmes shaped biscuits in the cafe more than made up for it.
