Win a copy of My first knitting book

My nan taught me to knit when I was younger. She used to make me an unlimited supply of clothes for my dolls but I must admit she was so quick and never dropped a stitch that I didn’t keep it up.

Children who love colourful yarn and being creative will love the 35 great projects in My First Knitting Book. The book is aimed at 7 years and over and helps  explore the different areas of knitting through four chapters. Each project has a level of difficulty from 1 to 3 which is perfect for develop your knitting skills.

In Cosy knits there are fun projects to keep you warm; Stylish knits includes decorative buttons, a phone cover, pencil case or leg warmers; Home knits has lovely projects to embellish your home from a hot water bottle cover to a toy basket and Fun knits will let you showcase your skills with some brilliant projects to keep for yourself or giveaway to friends. The knitted stethoscope is just brilliant and I can’t resist the knitted sheriff’s star badge as my son adores Woody from Toy Story. Little Sis has already picked the Ladybug buddies so I can’t wait to make them for her too.

The book contains a great mix of traditional and contemporary projects so there should be something to appeal to everyone in My First Knitting Book. There’s also a handy section on material and techniques as well as the templates for a couple of projects. My First Knitting Book by Susan Akass is published by CICO Kidz at £9.99, and is available from all good bookshops or call 01256 302699.

  1. 35 projects and my email is darleneovenstone@hotmail.co.uk. I hope I win, it’s a great prize. My granny showed me the basics if knitting, I managed to knit her a scarf for the winter to say thank you. That was about 7 years ago and she wears it every year lol 🙂

  2. The answer is 35 projects. My 9 yr old watches me knit, and she does the occasional dolls scarf, but this would be fab for her to try other projects.

  3. 35 wonderful projects…..it’s fantastic that younger ones are encouraged to knit. It’s a great skill to have and a great hobby.
