It doesn’t look like we’ll be getting the warm weather over this Bank Holiday weekend that we enjoyed at the beginning of the month. If, like me, you haven’t packed away your winter woollies then I have the perfect craft book to share with you – Knitted animal hats by Fiona Goble.
Knitted Animal Hats is a fun craft book containing 35 wild and wonderful hats and more for babies, kids, and the young at heart. The toddler and I have enjoyed choosing some projects to make from this book. It’s not just the cold weather but I think my children would love to have these hats for playing dress up too!
The book is well laid out, divided into sections by age, and with a helpful section of useful information at the end. The range of patterns will suit different skill levels, and each pattern has a handy skill guide. I think the patterns can be adapted to make smaller or larger sizes if necessary, perfect is something catches your eye (I may have to make tweet the robin for my husband who is called Robin!). As well as hats there are also some smaller projects, such as matching bootees, which would make a great gift for a new baby, or wrist and ankle warmers.
The great thing about knitting is you need very little equipment, it’s the perfect craft for taking on long journeys. You can squeeze a couple of rows in whilst the children are playing nicely which is why I always love to have a knitting project on the go. A hat can be completed in a couple of evenings.
My toddler has already sat me down and chosen which pattern he wants first, I can’t wait to show you the finished result!
Knitted animal hats by Fiona Goble is published by CICO Books at £12.99 and is available from all good bookshops or call 01256 302699.
