Hand print dragon for St George’s Day

I probably bore you to tears with tales of our hand print painting. However, it is good, messy fun so I can never say ‘no’ when the toddler asks! St George’s Day is coming up on the 23rd April so I thought we would try and make a dragon using his hand prints.

We needed some new supplies so headed off to our local Hobbycraft for a very enjoyable browse, returning with a huge bottle of green paint, glue sticks and a selection box of googly eyes. Check out my google+ page for pictures from our trip to Hobbycraft to buy the supplies!

When we returned home we set out our materials on the table as I find this really helps the toddler to concentrate on what we’re doing. We set up the paint tray, bottle of green paint, sponge and sheets of plain white paper.

We sponged one of his hands with green paint, then carefully placed the hand on a sheet of white paper. We did this several times so we had plenty of hand prints to choose from.

When they had dried we cut round each hand. Finally we glued all of the hands together to make the dragon, added a red fiery tongue and two green legs and the all important googly eyes.

An easy green hand print dragon, perfect to help your little one get involved in St George’s Day. Roaaaarrrrrr!

Could somebody explain to me what is the connection between Dragons and St George’s day? I am an alien, don’t know all the UK’s traditions! :))

This is really cute Jenny! I do sometimes miss having small children with adorable small chubby hands 🙂
