Vintage letter cards banner

Posted on November 8, 2012September 20, 2021 by jenny

There are so many Christmas crafts I want to make this year. For the first time in my adult life I have decided we’re having a colour theme so hopefully the house will look co-ordinated for once. The theme is very simple – red and white, with a vintage vibe.

I’m ashamed to say we already have our advent candles up on the mantle piece, which I de-cluttered specially. They look lovely and I’m wondering if I’ll want to light them when the time comes. We’re trying to keep the house tidy and clean as we’re putting it on the market soon. However, I couldn’t resist making a simple seasonal banner from vintage letter cards.

I try to pick these cards up whenever I see them as I’m not the only person who has seen their crafty potential! They have lots of uses and last year we framed individual letters as presents and even framed the name of our town. These vintage letter cards would also make great personalised greeting cards.

This banner was fun to make as I only needed to punch two holes at the top of each card, then thread through some bakers twine. The easiest seasonal decoration?!

Looks amazing! Good that is so easy to make. I love how simple things can rearrange the look of the room – we have our fire-side shelf filled with different lamps/candles for different occasions. I can’t wait for the X-mas decorations although in my house it is normal to put them out of the boxes in the end of November, not beginning, so I have to wait a bit more 😛

Thank you for your comment. I think having children just makes me want to start the Christmas fun earlier and earlier each year!

Oh yeah, you’re right, but my niece&nephew go crazy when they see any x-mas decorations and ask when they will get their presents from Santa! 🙂

I know, I can’t resist them, especially when I see individual letters on cards in Selfridges for silly money!
