iPad apps for toddlers (and giveaway)

*****competition is now closed*****

Edward loves using our iPad so we were really pleased to try out some new iPad apps for toddlers with him whilst we were away on holiday. We tried Caillou’s World, based on the hit PBS children’s show; Richard Scarry’s mobile app debut Busytown; as well as a major Peekaboo Barn update, all from Night & Day Studios.

Caillou’s World helps children learn and improve their phonics, letter recognition, memorization, and spelling by identifying objects that begin with a specific letter, tapping on them to color them in, until the whole scene is colorfully complete! There are many things to look for in each of the 7 scenes, and they change each time you play. Designed for ages 2 to 5. (Available on iPhone, iPad and Android)

Busytown is the first ever app based on characters by the American children’s author, Richard Scarry, and promises to bring back fond memories of his eclectic cast of characters. Kids start out by picking the animal they want to be – a bunny, cat, fox, or pig – naming it, dressing it, and then get to explore Busytown. (Available on iPhone, iPad, Android, and Android Tablet)

One of the best-loved children’s apps, Peekaboo Barn has just been released for the iPad. This was our favourite app as you tap the barn and guess which animal is inside. This is great for helping to learn the names of animals and hear the sounds they make. The app can now be personalized for your child. Parents, children, visiting relatives, and friends can record their own voices and star in Peekaboo Barn!  (Available for iPhone, iPad, and Android)

We would recommend these iPad apps for toddlers. They’re a great way of helping inquisitive young minds learn whilst having fun too. The apps are American so we had to get used to the American accents and some of the words but we having been having a lot of fun with them!
