Changing bags

Whilst pregnant I could not decide on a changing bag. I knew I needed one but I couldn’t find one I really liked or justify an Orla Kiely bag. I knew any bag would need to be spacious. I am a hoarder and on a good day I have carried nappies, wipes, nappy bags, bottles a formula dispenser, dummies toys, muslins, a spare change of clothes and bibs. I’ve also needed space for my things (oyster card, mobile, money and tissues). Don’t even ask me what I take out on a bad day…

First I bought a gorgeous Cath Kidston Messenger Bag in boyish navy. This is a great bag, has an essential long strap so it can be worn across your body or hang off your pram, and you can carry everything you need in it. However the lack of internal pockets made it difficult to find small things. I used it for the first 8 weeks and it is currently hanging on our coat rack – redundant.

Secondly I used the free bag from Boots Parenting Club which was better, lots of compartments, wipe clean (!) and the all important adjustable strap. I used this for the next 4 months.

However, everyone has these bags! Everywhere I look, at the doctor’s, the health centre, around town, baby weighing clinic, etc. So today my husband treated me to a lovely Orla Kiely baby bag.

According to her website it’s full title is the Orla Kiely Multi Directional Stem Print Baby Bag:

Matt laminated baby bag with brown nylon twill lining. With foldaway baby changing mat. Inside details include zip and mobile pockets and key chain. Six elasticated compartments inside for bottles etc, two outer slit pockets to front. Large zip pocket to back. Zip compartment at base of bag. Magnet closure. Adjustable strap that allows the bag to worn as a shoulder bag or across the body.

Perfect (and stylish too!).
