Wembley Park Christmas Lights

Wembley Park Christmas Lights

Ok so Wembley Park Christmas Lights may be over but I’m all ready for next Christmas! Days out and activities have been a little thin on the ground during the Christmas holidays. One evening we decided to head over to Wembley Park to see the Christmas light installations.

We love to visit Wembley Designer Outlet but of course all the shops are closed at the moment. It’s still a fun place to go for a walk through though. We weaved our way around the shopping centre, past the back of the Stadium and towards Wembley Park Stadium station. There are a number of different light installations to admire along the way including the tallest LED Christmas tree in London.

We turned to walk around the London Designer Outlet. Although the shops were closed we got to enjoy this giant bauble!

We walked past the SSE Arena where we have watched shows such as Paw Patrol Live and Disney on Ice. The kids love to play in the water fountains out the front and were surprised they weren’t on!

We loved these three classic telephone boxes by Arena Square, all featuring iconic Londoners from Brent including George Michael, Twiggy and Amy Johnson. This installation was called Legends Calling by Louisa Smurthwaite.

We couldn’t resist the rainbow crossing!

We walked past Mr Doodle concrete blocks in Wembley Park’s Market Square, decorated in his special grafitti spaghetti style.

We all loved Angel Wings which was outside the new Wembley Mark Market Emporium, on Market Square.

My kids always love the Spanish Steps and they’ve had a makeover as Drawn Together by Tash Randolph. Not only are the steps painted in a rainbow of colours, each step features hundreds of unique, self-illustrated faces “drawn together”. The faces are placed side-by-side and shaded to form a rainbow, reflecting the public working together to tackle the pandemic.

Star Box was a giant gift-box shaped cube, filled with glowing golden lights and shimmering sequins situated on Zig-a-zag Allee.

You can see we planned our visit so we could really watch the lights change at dusk. They were well worth a visit and we can’t wait to go again at the end of the year.

Some of the installations are staying in place as part of the Wembley Park Art Trail which is running until the 20th April. The free public art trail includes life murals, digital installations and light shadows.

[…] Liberty London – the iconic London store often utilises it’s amazing building for wonderful installations. This Christmas there is a huge globe hanging. I haven’t managed to find out anything about it but it is well-worth a visit, especially as you can then visit the haberdashery. KOYN – this contemporary Japanese dining destination and izakaya inspired by the natured-spirited roots and duality of Mount Fuji, has the prettiest mini outside. Decorated with festive greenery and wrapped presents it is well worth a visit. Annabel’s – a private members club in Mayfair features a hot air balloon which stretches over and beyond the building’s three floors. The entrance to Annabel’s has been incorporated so those lucky enough to enter the private member’s club do so by climbing aboard the hot air balloon. Fortnum & Mason – their traditional Christmas decorations include decking its facade on Piccadilly to look like an Advent Calendar, each window bearing a numbered day. Each of their ground floor windows features amazing paper installations, one of which mirrors the building with a miniature version of the building. Of course these are the main lights in central London but there are wonderful Christmas lights all over London too. You can probably tell by our photos that London is busy right now but the atmosphere is just perfect for a festive day out.
