Monday Happy List

Monday Happy Things {Week 367}

Halloween Bichon Frise

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List  is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.

Monday Happy Things {Week 367}

I was invited to watch HarperFiction’s 2022 Showcase online to hear more about some of their authors and novels for the new year. It was a brilliant hour where I was able to hear about the 2022 debuts from Nita Prose’s The Maid to Cecilia Knapp’s Little Boxes. There were also interviews with returning favourites such as Joanna Cannon and Sarah Lotz. The hour went really quickly and I now have a huge list of books I will be reading next year. Many thanks to Harper Collins for the invite, and the amazing goody bag containing a copy of The Maid!

My daughter just loves science so we set up the easiest Halloween science. We made pumpkin shapes from orange and green Skittles and did some fun STEM experiments after school. The results were so pretty and it was great to have some home learning. You can find out about our Halloween Pumpkin skittles experiment for kids here.

Little Sis took part in her Autumn Harvest assembly. Her year have been practising for the last few weeks and they were able to perform to the whole school as well as parents. It was strange being invited back into school and it was the first time since she performed in her Christmas play in Year 3!

I’ve been reading a lot recently and finished From Shetland, With Love at Christmas by Erin Green. It was the perfect easy read book and just what I needed to read. I always have such a huge stack of books I want to read so I’m not what sure what will be next.

My son carved his first pumpkin at Scouts all on his own. We bought him a penknife and he carved a design into it after scooping the contents out. We also have a street pumpkin competition this weekend so we’ll all be carving another one from the pumpkins we picked a few weeks ago.

    Sounds like you had a full week. Carving is always so much fun, it’s great that your son gets two chances to do it this year.

    The Halloween skittles experiment sounds like a fun idea. I think my son would love that if he doesn’t eat all the skittles first.

    I love the sound of the skittles experiment, I know a few kids that would love to try that, we have not carved a pumpkin since my daughter was little

    I spotted the science experiment on your Facebook page yesterday and decided to have a go at it with Oscar – it looks so cool!
