My children love to have something to look forward to. So do I! We have been planning Father’s Day for a few weeks now and are excited to share some of our new crafts with you. Have you ever tried pyrography before? You can use a wood burning tool to create great results and we used it to make something really fun for Father’s Day.

Materials Needed:

pyrography wood burning tool
3 wood circle cutouts
3 craft magnets
Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Father’s Day wood burning craft:

Begin by setting up and turning on your wood burning tool. If you need to put it on or change the tip, make sure you do so before turning on the unit! It is very important that your workspace is well-ventilated and that you follow safety precautions listed on the instructions/box of your wood burning tool.

Once your wood burning tool heats up, begin pressing the point tip into the wooden circle, making little dots to form the letter “D”.

You can lightly mark the letter in pencil first if you wish. Do the same thing for the remaining letters “A” and “D”.

Shut off your tool and allow to cool. Make sure to place it out of the way of younger children as it will remain hot for some time.

Add a glue stick to your hot glue gun and turn it on. Once it’s ready to use, add a small amount of glue on the right edge of the letter D slice and gently press it on to the letter A slice.

Add more glue to the right side of the letter A slice, and gently press the final letter D slice next to it so they are connected to each other. Leave to cool.

Then turn over your wood slices and glue a magnet to the back of each one with the hot glue.

What a lovely idea. I do love gifts that are home made, they always mean so much more than shop bought one’s. I think my girls would love a go at wood burning. x
