Make your own fabric cord cover

Make your own fabric cord cover

My tween is enjoying keeping in touch with friends whilst we are at home. We’ve always been pretty strict about screen time but we’ve had to be a lot more relaxed about that since he is unable to go to school. He already had a tablet and phone but we’ve also set him up with a computer so he can access his home learning in his bedroom. All this tech means he has a lot of cables in his room. In a bid to keep it all tidy we had fun making a fabric cord cover. He enjoys sewing and this is a great sewing project for tweens.

Fabric cord cover materials:

2 small pieces of fabric (generally just enough with a tad extra to wrap around the cord you’re making it for)
Thread to match
Scissors
Velcro

How to make your own fabric cord cover:

Place two pieces of fabric with printed sides facing each other.

Fabric cord cover materials:

Stitch around the fabric leaving a small opening to flip the fabric.

After the fabric is flipped, cut two pieces of velcro from opposite sides.

On one side of your fabric piece, add the velcro and stitch around it.

Flip the fabric and put the opposite piece of velcro on the fabric and stitch in place.

Now fold up your cord, wrap the cord wrap around it and secure with the velcro.

Harry Potter craft for tweens

We used a fun Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows fabric for our fabric cord wrap but I can see myself making these with all kinds of fabrics.

What a great idea. So simple but really effective. I’ll have to give it a go as I’m getting my sewing machine out to sew some masks tomorrow anyway. Mich x

Love this idea. Simple, yet really effective and so useful! I’ve got my sewing machine out from making face masks, so I’ll give this a god 🙂
