Family Life Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 240}

I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. It seems strange to not start the week with a Bank Holiday but it means I actually get to enjoy my day off alone. I think I’ll be catching up with the washing and cleaning but never mind!

Five Happy Things {Week 240}

Last Monday we got to enjoy some extra family time. Little Sis needed a new bike as she’s grown so much. We found a 20″ one she liked in Decathalon and took her out for a ride. It doesn’t have stabilisers and I’d forgotten how hard it was to teach someone to ride without them. We also spent some time clearing out the kids playhouse so they can sit in it and use it more.

Our week felt quite quiet with the normal after school clubs. My son started Outdoor Athletics this term whilst my daughter has Football Club so I get to come home after work and enjoy a cup of tea rather than rushing off on the school run. I’ve tried to cut back on toy reviews so last week we only reviewed one toy – the super cute PopPopPets. These containers of clime contain a collectible animal which my daughter loved. I’ll be writing a post about them soon.

On Friday we finally managed to visit the Duck Pond Collective pop up shop in Ruislip. I’ve heard so much great stuff about it. It’s an experiment in building a Ruislip community around the concept of sustainability and art. Pulling people together to participate in creative workshops with space for eco-community driven retail too. It’s a lovely little shop and I picked up some beeswax wraps I can’t wait to try. They run workshops too so I’m hoping to go on some of them.

hiding painted rocks

On Saturday we made our annual trip to the Modelair MayFly at the Shuttleworth Collection. We go every year and my husband came away with a few new models to build. We made sure to hide a couple of painted rocks we had recently picked up.  In the afternoon we headed to Jump Giants Heathrow for a birthday party. The kids had a great time and slept really well that evening!

On Sunday Little Sis and I headed off to a Beaver Bonanza Science Day. She adores Science so I knew she would love the different experiments. She got to make oobleck, try chromatography, plant seeds, make a white light spinner, hold a chameleon and so much more. The weather was gorgeous too so it was lovely to be able to spend a day outside.

Today my poor 7 year old starts a week of SATs papers so we started our day with bacon sandwiches. Fingers crossed that everyone sitting their SATs does their best!

    I always love catching up on your 5 happy things and it looks like another bonanza here too! I hope your that the SATS go well, I remember just how stressful they were and the pressure the children feel, A bacon sarnie sounds the best way to start it out.
    Oh and that Chameleon is super cute too
