Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Paper cutting workshop at the Barbican Centre

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

I survived another week at work. I have to admit I’m finding my new job a bit of a struggle. My children have adapted to going to Breakfast Club really well, they are pretty tired by the end of the week, but seem happy and settled at school. My son had a trip to see the Roman Museum at St Albans last week and my daughter had her first assembly, all about Knights and Castles. I couldn’t volunteer to help on the trip or attend the assembly which I felt really sad about. I’ve always helped on trips or gone to events at school and I don’t like missing out on these events.

On Saturday I attended a paper cutting workshop at the Barbican Centre with Hannah from Utensils0. The 2 hours went really quickly but I cut lots of botanical leaves to make my own Barbican Conservatory. I’ll be sharing the finished papercut when I’ve glued it all together.

The Original Sweetshop at The Chesterfield

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with afternoon tea at The Original Sweetshop at The Chesterfield in Mayfair. We don’t go out for afternoon tea very often so it was a lovely treat. All the cakes and sweet treats were based on well known sweets such as the Coca Cola Slice and Cherry bonbon cupcake.

Yesterday I got to pick up my new shiny iPhone from the Apple Store. I traded in my lovely iPhone 8 Plus for an iPhone Xs Max. I’m still getting used to not having a Home button but it’s a lovely phone. I bought a case in Lavender from the Apple Store but I can’t wait to get a nicer case to protect it. I usually get something from Cath Kidston or Orla Kiely so I hope they come out soon.

When we were out shopping I treated myself to some Christmas magazines which I just love reading. John Lewis was full of Christmas trees and decorations and the shops were full of gift sets – already! I admit I was going to buy the children’s Advent calendars to make sure I got them before they sold out (Hatchimals and Lego City) but I couldn’t being myself to buy them in September.

Have a lovely week everyone!

Congrats on your wedding anniversary, that’s so exciting. And I’m quite jealous about the new iPhone, I have been really tempted myself x
