Family Life Monday Happy List

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

finding painted rocks

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. I was pretty happy to see the weekend after going back to work. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Last week was busy with just too much going on. It was a full week at work with lots of meeting after school and in the evenings too. I really struggled to have any time to myself but the week ended with Pay Day which was good!

I was really looking forward to a quiet weekend, and it was quiet – after the gymnastics trial, car service, playdate and party. We managed to squeeze in a visit to both the local Dogs Trust (lots of cute dogs) and the Farmers Market, where we picked up some delicious food and found some painted rocks.

I finally finished the book I’ve been reading all Summer – Mrs Pankhurst’s Purple Feather by Tessa Boase. It tells the story of Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the militant suffragettes, and Etta Lemon who founded what would become Britain’s biggest conservation charity, the RSPB. It’s such a great book about the power of women in the political sphere and I loved reading it.

We have been having a huge clearout at home. The children have grown out of so many toys recently. My son still loves his Lego (and covers most of the floor with it, but my 6 year old is super fussy about her toys. She has a huge cupboard in her room which has been a bit of a dumping ground. We cleared out her Doc McStuffins toys, along with her Paw Patrol playsets and Go Jetters toys. She’s not nearly as sentimental about things as I am, which is probably a good thing, but I’m still sad when I pass her toys on to the charity shops.

crafting with leaves

I spent yesterday afternoon crafting with my children. It’s not often my 8 year old wants to craft with me but we made some delicious chocolate gingerbread brownies and then crafted with leaves we had picked up at the Farmers Market. I’m going to share both of our makes with you as soon as I have time to write them up.

Have a great week everyone!

In always end up feelign sad when I clear out to the charity shop too and I silently panic that they are going to ask for them back again once they’re gone! Mich x
