Mine It! review

Mine It! review

A while ago my children spotted Mine It! in a magazine and really wanted to try it for themselves. The idea is that you can  mine for real Diamond and Gold in a block. Mine It! is a reveal and discover play pattern and each Diamond or Gold block has a precious stone inside.

We were sent one Diamond and one Gold block to review. Each box contains everything you need: Chisel, Hammer and Magnifying Glass, to chip away and find the surprise. The children decided to open theirs after school today. There are 12 Gold blocks and 12 Diamond blocks, each have a special rock or a real piece of Diamond or Gold inside. So there’s a 1 in 24 chance to discover the Gold or Diamond! My 7 year old collects semi precious stones so was very excited!

They’ve both had toys like this before so they knew exactly what to do. They used the tools to break up the clay and discover what was buried inside. My 6 year old found hers in minutes but it took my 7 year old a little more digging and brushing away to find his.

Each box contains something so if you are not lucky enough to find a piece of Gold or Diamond then you will find Rose Crystal, Volcano Rock, Red Onyx, Black Jaspar, Tiger Eye or something else. My children had a lot of fun but it’s slightly messy so I would recommend doing it on a tray or somewhere easy to tidy up. Take a look at the video we made to see how much fun they had:

There are 12 Gold blocks and 12 Diamond blocks that each have a special rock or a real piece of Diamond or Gold inside. My son liked the fact that there’s a 1 in 24 chance to discover the Gold or Diamond! He’s already planning on buying more with his pocket money!

We have done fossil ones like these before and the kids love it. Love that you can find a diamond or gold
