Family Life Monday Happy List

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Last week my husband took a few day off work so we could re-decorate my daughters bedroom. It looks amazing and didn’t take as long as we thought. We painted the whole room white and put up a patterned wallpaper on one wall. I love a freshly decorated room and my daughter is happy too.

We took the opportunity to clear out a lot of her old toys. My daughter recently declared she hated pink so we have taken loads of things to the charity shop – her Barbie dolls house, her Doc McStuffin toys, some of her many soft toys and books she has grown out of. Her room is still very full but it’s such a great feeling that it’s a little less cluttered.

I enjoyed a day out in London where I managed to visit the Votes for Women display at the Museum of London and visit Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, London’s first cat cafe. It was a bizarre day but loads of fun. Read about my day for your chance to win The LEGO NINJAGO Movie goody bag I was gifted at the event.

We went to Parents Evening for my daughter who is currently in Year 1. I’m always a little apprehensive about Parents Evening as I know the child I see is not the one who goes to school every day. My daughter received a glowing report and it was lovely to hear how she is getting on. Her reading has come on amazingly this year and she has already reached the standard expected at the end of Year 1. I really enjoyed looking through her school books.

Despite my son being off school most of the week with a virus I managed to get quite a lot done. I baked a delicious salted caramel chocolate brownie, did some paper cutting and started my next sewing project – a felt sewing machine. I also made my latest Photoshop Elements 2018 tutorial live so do pop over for a read if you are looking for some Valentine craft ideas.

I’m really looking forward to the Spring Knitting & Stitching Show next month. Don’t forget you can use my discount code – GINGERBREAD18 – to get £2 off advance adult tickets and £1 off advance concessions, so tickets will be £11.50 instead of £13.50/£12.50 (there’s a £1.50 fulfilment fee per transaction).

Have a great week everyone!

It feels so good to have a clear out doesn’t it? I love that your daughter doesn’t like pink. I’m not very keen either and there seems to be so much of it around these days.
