Calling all aspiring inventors! {Young Imagineers competition}

Today I wanted to tell you about a new STEM competition, Young Imagineers, which has just been launched by the Science Museum and Statoil, the Norwegian energy company.

Aimed at encouraging children’s involvement in the STEM subjects, the Young Imagineers competition asks children, aged 7-14, “What invention would you create to make tomorrow’s world a better place?

Entry is easy. All children need to do to enter is fill in a form on the competition website:  https://youngimagineers.statoil.com/, including a sketch and a short 100 word summary of their idea. The competition is open until 6 October 2017.

Statoil has brought together a panel of experts who will invite the ten best entries to share their inventions at a special, science-filled day at the Science Museum in London on Saturday 18 November 2017.

The lucky winner will then have their idea made into a model and put on display outside Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery at the Science Museum. There are many other prizes for runners up, including 50 copies of the book This Book Think’s You’re a Scientist for the winner or winning pair’s school(s).

The competition is open to young people aged 7-14. You can find all the details you need on the FAQ page or if you want to get started straight away, download the application form here.  The closing date for all entries is Friday 6 October 2017 at 17:00 BST.

Good luck if you decide to enter!
