Monday Happy Things {Week 154}

It was a huge week for us with both kids going back to school. I think they were both happy to see their friends again. My 7 year old started a new school and so far seems really happy, coming home each day with so much to tell me about all the new routines he’s having to learn. I’ve missed them both but I can’t deny it’s been good to have some time to myself.

My children love painting rocks and on Saturday we visited our local park to leave some painted rocks. We joined our local painted rocks group on Facebook and were so pleased to see our rocks had been found! We’re doing this again with Beavers this week which will be fun.

Also on Saturday to took a ride on a beautiful vintage steam train, Metropolitan No. 1, on the Metropolitan line from Amersham to Ruislip. This was coupled up with Steam Locomotive No. 9466, two class 20 diesel locomotives, and the 1950s ex British Rail coaches resplendent in their new London Transport red livery. We’ve seen these vintage trains go past a few times and have always wanted to travel on one.

I may have gone a little crazy with eBay recently. I’ve had a few ideas to make some handmade Christmas decorations and have been stocking up on supplies, especially vintage Sylvanian Families figures. I’m hoping to make things in October and November so we can enjoy the madness of December.

We’ve also planned our half term adventures. I feel bad that we didn’t have an amazing summer holiday away so we’ve booked to visit family in Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight over half term and have a proper holiday. I think the kids will deserve it after a few weeks at school.

Have a great week everyone!

    Painting rocks sounds like an easy fun thing to do! I love that you plan on doing some crafts with the Sylvanian Families figures! Great idea 🙂
