Kawaii Cakes Biscuit Icing Workshop at Tatty Devine

Last weekend I booked myself on a really fun workshop at Tatty Devine. Although they are known for their super cute acrylic jewellery, they were hosting Juliet Sear and a biscuit decorating workshop. It just sounded like the perfect workshop so I signed myself up.

I love wandering around East London, which is lucky as it took me a while to find the venue! The Tatty shop is tucked away at the end of Brick Lace and I kept getting distracted by all the colourful street art.

They were hosting a super sweet workshop in their Brick Lane store with baking expert, author, and food artist Juliet Sear. Juliet was going to show us how to decorate a Tatty Devine inspired biscuit – Kawaii style. We would receive three biscuits to ice, PLUS a signed copy of Juliet’s third cookbook, Kawaii Cakes, adorable and cute Japanese-inspired cakes and treats! There was also 10% off all Tatty Devine purchases on the day.

I was actually given 5 biscuits to decorate and we tried our hand at using icing powder, icing pens as well as royal icing. There were two watermelons, an avocado, cloud and rainbow to decorate. Juliet was lovely and shared loads of tips.

I can’t resist a cute little face on my sewing and now I can add them to my baking!

I’m not even sure which one I liked best. Perhaps the watermelon slices as my kids are obsessed with watermelon at the moment.

The workshop was good and somehow my biscuits made it home all the way to west London. There were enough biscuits so everyone could enjoy one too.

I came away with a copy of the book so I’m hoping to try making some more soon.

The biscuits are almost too cute to eat! I love Tatty Devine jewellery, I had no idea they had a physical shop and held classes like this though.
