Halloween Monster Letter Decorations

Here in the South of England we’ve been experiencing a mini heatwave. My daughter is only doing half days at school this week as she settles in so we’ve had some amazing afternoon playdates in the sunshine. All this makes today’s crafty post a little strange to write as we’ve started our Halloween crafting!

Yep, not only are the shops full of Christmas cards but Halloween decorations too. A few days ago we received our latest parcel of Bostik goodies to craft with. The theme was Halloween which is always fun. Our parcel of goodies contained both Bostik Glue Dots and Blu Tack so we had a good think about what to make and came up with our Monster Letter Decorations.

Supplies to make Monster Letter Decorations:

Bostik Glu Dots
Mache letters
White acrylic paint
Googly eyes

How to make Monster Letter Decorations:

The first step was to paint our mache letters which my 4 year old did with white acrylic paint. She gave them two coats of paint which dried super quick as the weather is so warm. They were a little patchy but she was really proud of her work so I didn’t attempt to fill in the gaps!

When our mache letters were completely dry we got out the Bostik Glu Dots and googly eyes. I applied a glu dot to the back of each eye and my daughter placed them all over the letters.

Who doesn’t love playing with googly eyes?

At first we turned each letter into little monsters with the help of the googly eyes. I thought they looked quite cute but my daughter wanted to cover each letter.

I love Glu Dots and use them for so many crafts. The glue is super strong so I know the eyes will hold in place for years! When my daughter had finished decorating each letter we placed them on the shelf – all ready for cooler weather and Halloween.

[…] The Gingerbread House decorated letters to make spooky words for display and Le Coin De Mel provided inspiration with some quick ten minutes activities for younger crafters. Making paper chains is always a fun activity as Mummy Fever shows. For a frugal craft keep tins and decorate them as Rachael Jess has, these would make great tealight holders or pen pots. […]
