9 crafts to celebrate The BFG

As huge fans of Roald Dahl and his amazing stories this is a very exciting year. Not only are we celebrating the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth, but 2016 also sees the release of the highly anticipated The BFG Movie.

We keep seeing trailers for the new film which looks fantastic. The BFG Movie follows the Big Friendly Giant and his new friend Sophie as they set out to stop the horrible Other Giants in Giant Country who love guzzling humans beans. It’s out on July 22nd here in the UK, a date firmly marked on our calendar with a big red circle.

I can’t wait to go and see it with my children and we’ve really enjoyed reading the book over the last few weeks. Roald Dahl fans will be excited to hear about The BFG Dream Jar Trail. Sculpture trails seem very popular in the UK so we can’t wait for this one to start.

The BFG Dream Jar Trail will see the childhood dreams and aspirations of celebrities and top artists such as Steven Spielberg, Sophie Dahl, Mark Rylance and Quentin Blake placed in GIANT six foot jars located in iconic spots around the UK. Locations are rumoured to include key London landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Tower of London, Leicester Square, as well as key locations in Roald Dahl’s life, such as his Buckinghamshire home – now The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden. The trail runs from 8 July – 31 August and the jars will be auctioned off with monies going to Save the Children and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
