Jungle themed desk tidy

I’m always trying to get the children to keep their craft supplies tidy. So our latest craft has been raiding our recycling drawer to make a jungle-themed desk tidy.

We used:
Bostik White Glu and Glu Dots (from our latest Bostik Bloggers craft pack)
Animal print paper sheets from Baker Ross
Scissors
Cardboard tubes and boxes from the recycling box

How to make a jungle themed desk tidy

We found a variety of cardboard tubes in our recycling box and covered them with different animal print papers – Giraffe, Zebra, Reptile, Leopard, Tiger and Snakeskin. The children enjoyed picking their favourite papers and talking about the animals as we crafted.

We roughly cut a piece of paper to the right size, placed a cardboard tube on it and squeezed a line of the Bostik White Glu along one edge. We carefully rolled the tube, adding more glu when needed to hold the paper in place.

When each tube was covered we snipped through the excess paper at each end with the scissors, folding it inside the tube. We then set them aside to dry.

Then we made the second part of our desk tidy. We found an empty cardboard box which I cut down in size. The children picked some sparkly green card which we used to cover the four sides. We attached the card to the box with Bostik Glu Dots to keep them securely in place.

Then we were able to put everything together. The children placed the covered cardboard tubes into the box. We found 8 tubes fitted perfectly. And they placed their favourite bits of stationery inside.

This is such a good idea! I love how the children are able to do their own arts as well. Perfect for my own who are 5 and 3 – I’ll def. look into doing this next time! Thanks so much. 😀

[…] The Gingerbread House made a animal themed desk tidy, whereas Jennifer’s Little World has made animal themed bookmarks. […]
