Monday Happy List – Week 88

Not only are we celebrating our second Bank Holiday in May but it’s also half term! We’re so happy to be enjoying a few days away from home.

The weather has been beautiful so we’ve made the most of being out all day long. I love re-visiting places I enjoyed as a child and we had a great day at Carisbrooke Castle. Due to the school holidays they were celebrating the Cavaliers and Roundheads all week and there were loads of events we could join in with. Our favourites were taking part in the Pike Drill and learning about the Battle of Naseby through the medium of vegetables – who said history can’t be fun!

We went to our first Car Boot sale of the year. My sister had a stall and the children loved ‘helping’ her sell things. We also had a good look round and the children picked up some new toys and I bought a new vintage Fisher Price toy for my collection.

Despite all my holiday planning, this morning we ended up at the beach with no swimming costumes, towels or spare clothes. You can probably imagine that what started as a paddle soon ended up as full on swimming! My 4 and 6 year old had marvellous time as there is a fantastic pool shaped like the Isle of Wight. They didn’t even notice when I legged it to the nearest charity shop to buy them new, dry, outfits.

We re-visited another one of our favourite places, Quarr Abbey. There is a lovely tea room in the gardens and it’s the most amazing place to sit and soak up the tranquility of the place. We treated ourselves to a cream tea which was delicious.

It’s difficult to pick the final thing on my Happy List but I think it will have to be Flakey McFlake Face, the aptly named ice cream van we saw over the weekend. It really made us smile.

Have a great week everyone!

I love the concept of this post, it’s so positive and we need plenty more of that! That scone looks scrumptious and I feel like I haven’t had a 99 in forever! Must make that must do this Summer!
