Ground control to Major Clanger

Ground control to Major Clanger

My 6 year old loves The Clangers so when I heard that Tiny and Small were making a special appearance at Kings Cross this morning, I knew we would have to go along to meet them. For one morning only we were able to ‘Call the Clangers’ via a pop-up pink knitted London phone box with a phone line straight through to our favourite little blue planet.

Infamous UK yarnstormer Deadly Knitshade created a Clangers phone box cosy, and the art installation magically transformed a traditional red London phone box into a fun Clangers experience. Via a special pink phone we were put through to the international space exchange, then introduced to the Clangers by show narrator Michael Palin to guess the message that Major Clanger was whistling.

Ground control to Major Clanger

My 6 year old couldn’t wait to hear the message and was pretty confident he had interpreted it correctly. My 4 year old didn’t miss out as there were special Clangers stickers, whistles and activity sheets to keep her busy. We couldn’t leave without saying hello to Tiny and Small who were both there.

In case you’re wondering, the message my son heard was later revealed in a video posted on www.clangers.com, as well as their social media channels @helloclangers and facebook.com/officialclangers.

Tiny and Small also wanted to share the news that The Clangers returns to CBeebies from Monday 23rd May at 6pm with 24 brand new episodes. The episodes follow Major, Mother, Small, Tiny and Granny Clanger on a whole host of new adventures. The Clangers are joined by friends old and new as they explore their little blue planet, stumbling upon un-discovered caves and tunnels, finding new places to practice music, knit a jumper and play.

I still can’t quite believe The Clangers made a comeback after all this time. It looks super fun though.
