Monday Happy Things – Week 67

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to my weekly Monday Happy Things post where I record the five things which have made me happy in the past week. I’ve really enjoyed the Christmas holidays. I’ve had plenty of time to indulge my hobbies, written some long overdue blog posts and loved not receiving too many emails.

One of my favourite Christmas presents was The Year in Stitches Calendar Kit from The Draper’s Daughter. I enjoyed stitching the first month and will look forward to making each one every month.

On the way back from spending Christmas at my mum’s we stopped for some shopping in the Christmas Sales at Marlborough, a pretty little town in Wiltshire. I couldn’t resist some homeware items in Cath Kidston and new clothes in Seasalt to set me up for the new year.

I received a couple of late presents from my dis-organised husband – a gorgeous Tatty Devine enamel gingerbread heart necklace, and a fun light box. We’re decorating the living room this year and the light box will have pride of place in it.

Did you watch the animated adaption of Stick Man on the BBC on Christmas Day? It was a very hectic day but I made sure we all sat down to watch it and it was just as faithful to the original story as previous adaptations. On Thursday we enjoyed a lovely morning at Wendover Woods to walk the Stick Man activity trail. The children loved spotting the characters hiding in the trees and we brought home plenty of sticks to craft our own stick men.

We tried to make Christmas as special as possible for the children and this holiday we ticked off a visit to Father Christmas in his grotto, ice-skating and last night we managed to squeeze in a trip to the pantomime. It was the first time we had been and the children really enjoyed the show, joining in with all the shouting and cheering. I really hope this will be an annual thing for our little family.

Today is an Inset Day so we’re enjoying one last family day before the children go back to nursery and school. Have a great day everyone!
