baking Christmas gingerbread

Gingerbread Biscuit Box

Gingerbread Biscuit Box

A couple of weeks ago I discovered a brilliant new baking subscription box and recently received my first Bakes Box. It was an exciting collaboration with Maid of Gingerbread to make a Gingerbread Biscuit Box which I mentioned in my gingerbread gift guide post.

It contained almost everything needed with dry ingredients, templates, decorations and instructions. Everything fitted in a flat envelope which slid through my letterbox.

I made the dough, wrapped it in clingfilm and left it in the fridge for an hour.

Then cut out my paper templates, rolled my dough and cut out my pieces.

I placed them on a baking tray and put them in the freezer for 30 minutes. Then I baked the lid and base, 4 sides, as well as some smaller biscuits to go inside the box. When everything was baked and had cooled down I started to ice and put together the biscuit box!

There were plenty of silver balls, smarties and coloured sweets so I iced and decorated as I wished. Icing isn’t my strong point but I think it looked pretty good.

When I had finished I placed the smaller gingerbread biscuits inside the box to create a wonderful gingerbread biscuit box. I’ve blurred out our name which I iced this on the top. What do you think? It’s easily my favourite gingerbread bake of the year and tasted delicious!

What a great idea that it comes through the letterbox! We made a gingerbread house over Christmas and it had a template mould which was very helpful! Not so sure we could cut one out! It looks very impressive! x

What a great idea – we love to bake but don’t do it often. This would force me to do it more
