Homemade Halloween treat bag

We’re lucky to live in a really family-friendly neighbourhood and the last couple of years the children have dressed up to go trick or treating. We know all our neighbours and they always have a few sweets for them when the children visit. I wanted to make some special treat bags with them and thought it would be fun to print out own using apples.

Equipment needed to make a homemade Halloween treat bag:
Craft paper box with twine handle from The Works
Apple
Orange acrylic paint and brush

How to make a homemade Halloween treat bag:

Apples make the perfect pumpkin shape so we combined our favourite crafts, painting and stamping. Cut your apple down the middle, make sure you miss the pips and core. Cut eyes, a nose and a mouth.

Cover your apple with orange acrylic paint and carefully press down on the sides of the craft box.

Leave to dry. Add a green stalk and draw around each pumpkin to make the features stand out. Now we’re all ready to go trick or treating next month.

My 3 year old enjoyed stamping with the apple so much I gave her a sheet of white paper to stamp on. When the pumpkins were dry we cut round them and made a pumpkin garland to decorate our mantlepiece.

Have you ever tried printing with apples before? It’s easy to give them scary pumpkin faces and they make the best spooky Halloween decorations.
