Cath Kidston competition days out housekeeping

Win an annual subscription to Journl

Last week Little Sis and I had a day out in the West End. We’re having lots of fun together whilst her brother is at school and I thought we’d ventureĀ  a little further than normal. I love planning and making lists so used Journl to plan our day. I checked bus and tube times and made a note of them, researched exhibitions to see, places to eat and of course, some of our favourite shops to visit.
Anarchy & BeautyWe dropped the 4 year old at school, hopped on the bus to the station and caught the tube into the West End. Our first stop was the National Portrait Gallery to see the Anarchy & Beauty: William Morris and His Legacy, 1860 ā€“ 1960 exhibition about William Morris, the Victorian artist, writer and visionary thinker. It wasĀ  really interesting exhibition with portraits, personal items and furniture and textiles, illustrating Morrisā€™s concept of ā€˜art for the peopleā€™.

The second part of the exhibition showcased books, jewellery, ceramics and clothing by craftspeople such as Eric Gill, Bernard Leach and Terence Conran, demonstrating how Morrisā€™s legacy continued into the twentieth century, influencing radical politics, the Garden City movement and even the Festival of Britain in 1951.

I love the work of William Morris so it was a great exhibition, even if Little Sis did get told off for touching one of the displays! The exhibition wasn’t child-friendly at all but we did pick up one the free sketch books which kept Little Sis happily scribbling drawing and writing.

After the exhibition we walked around the West End, she chased the pigeons in Leicester Square, and we had a delicious lunch at Wagamama, sitting across from a famous boy band.

A big thank you to Journl for sponsoring our girls’ day out. Journl is an online personal organiser, created to help busy people stay better organised and includes a range of useful features like to-do lists, calendars and storage. There is an iPhone app too, which is perfect for when youā€™re on the move.

Journl can be used for managing all aspects of your life and I have sections for blogging, home, half-term and Christmas too! I really like the notebooks, checklist and calendar features and I know I will definitely be using it to help manage my finances over the next few months. My Aunt, for some reason, is rounding up all the blokes in our family. The plan is to take clothes free pictures of us outdoors to create a calendar. I’m just trying to let that sink in.
