Back to school: lunchbox ideas

The start of the school term is feeling very real at the moment. I’m panic buying school uniform, have stuck up the pictures of Reception we were given and have bought my 4 year old a Planes 2 Fire and Rescue lunchbox so I can bribe him to help him get through the first few days.

He’s a good eater so I’m hoping to pack it full of tasty treats. One thing he’ll definitely be taking are Yollies. We were sent some samples to try and he really loved them. Yollies are a fruity yogurt on a stick, packaged in stay-fresh pods, so they are perfect for picnics and lunchboxes.

Along with the Yollies we were sent an adventure pack which we took out with us on our trip to Finkley Down Farm at the weekend. The children spent all day running around, meeting the animals and playing in the indoor and outdoor play areas. We took a picnic and the Yollies went down really well. The great thing about them is that they look like a treat but they’re made from real fruit puree, contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and are a source of Calcium & Vitamin D – essential for healthy bones!

The pack contained binoculars, a compass and a magnifying glass so they spent much of the day telling us which direction to go and hunting for minibeasts and birds. We had lots of fun, aided by full tummies of course.

The extra-thick deliciously fruity Yollie yogurts (including strawberry, apricot and raspberry) are available in Asda from August 2014, 4x 25g packs, RRP £2. They are easy to open – so that’s one less thing to worry about – and the collectable sticks are stamped with letters, so we’re trying to collect enough to spell our names!
