baking eating Pancake Day crafts

How do you like your pancakes?

Last week we were the lucky recipients of a Magic Pancake Possibilities Box from Warburtons. I never knew Warburtons made pancakes, we’re much more used to eating their delicious bread, so we were looking forward to trying them.

My children absolutely loved opening the Magic Pancake Box which played Pure Imagination from the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film everytime the lid was opened. The box was a very special full sensory fun packed pancake kit, which helped keep my children entertained during half term and also gave us some new ideas ahead of Pancake Day on March 4th.

Now I’m a real traditionalist and love lemon and sugar with my pancakes so was pretty nervous about trying something new. Fortunately my 3 year old was happy to try everything, so quickly figured out he needed to spin the wheel, find which number it landed on so I could read out the food combinations and try them for ourselves:

Chilli and Jam
Granola and Shaved Coconut
Dried Banana and Cinnamon
Chocolate and Popping Candy
Feta Cheese and Mint Leaves
Marmite and Mascarpone
Pancetta and Pistachio

The sweet combinations were a lot more popular than the savoury flavours but we bravely tried everything, even the maple syrup spray. Needless to say the chocolate and popping candy covered pancakes went down very well with my children and my husband and I enjoyed the granola and shaved coconut. The pancakes tasted pretty good on their own too, we warmed ours slightly but they can also be eaten cold. We were sent so many that I put a pack in the freezer, perfect for last minute pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Our only decision will be what to put on top!

This looks fantastic! Every year I spend ages stood at the cooker, frying pancake after pancake for the hungry hoards. It would be so much easier with something like this. The topping/fillings look fabulous too.
