Advent crafts Christmas

Our Advent activities

Having a toddler to keep busy means I have tried to come up with lots of activities during advent. We’ve been talking about Christmas for a while (or Chris-Chris as he likes to call it) and I know he’s confused. I’m hoping that our book advent, his traditional chocolate a day Thomas calendar and our activity calendar will keep us busy and allow us a smooth run up to the big day. It’s not hard to find ideas online for advent calendar games, from homemade craft tips to festive printables, games and videos. Last year Father Christmas had a very special message for the toddler thanks to the Portable North Pole which he loved.

I think I saw this idea on Pinterest, it’s a simple handmade advent calendar made from match boxes, covered in paper. The toddler helped put the boxes together with lots of sticky tape and then placed a chocolate in each drawer.

As well as a chocolate we added a piece of paper with a small activity on. They include baking, crafts, lots of gingerbread things and a couple of outdoor activities too. Hopefully they will keep us busy!

I love this: must make a note to collect match boxes throughout the year! If you fancy, I have a linky for all Advent Activities and/or calendars:

that looks like a good plan 😉 Do you always need to keep him that busy or is it just that he cannot wait for the big day?
