Growing up

My daughter turned one on Thursday. I can’t believe how quickly the year has gone and a little bit of me wishes she would slow down! We’ve been having lots of ‘firsts’ lately. First shoes (5th November) was followed by first tooth (17th November). She been crawling and standing for a while but it now pretty good at speed crawling as soon as she hears the baby gate open. I’ve also caught her looking longingly up the stairs a couple of times.

She can say a couple of words, such as cat and daddy but has a great pointy finger when I don’t understand what she means. Her wardrobe has also improved. Remember I said I bought her a bright onesie because I was fed up of people assuming she was a boy? More outfits quickly followed including my favourite – city shorts and tights!

Unfortunately meal times seems to be going backwards at the moment. She’s refusing to eat much at all and meal times are becoming a regular battle between us. I realised she’d moved on from baby food and wanted to feed herself more. We’ve been working our way through everything I can think of but she seems quite fussy apart from Ready Brek and fruit pouches. Thankfully she still drinks a lot of milk and I’m hoping this phase won’t last for ever.

We also moved her up to the next stage of car seat. We’ve had a couple of long journeys and spent time in the car whilst house hunting and she’s been miserable. I think I would be too if I was facing the opposite way to everyone else! We did a lot of research into car seats, including Bambino Direct car seats, but finally went for a forward facing chair which can swivel 90 degrees. This really helps my back when I’m putting her in and out of the car and she loves her new view!
