Handmade Christmas

We went to Westfield Stratford City yesterday. Most of the shops already had Christmas window displays, Boots was full of gift sets and I picked up a collection of gingerbread mixes, cutters and kits to try out and perfect over the coming weeks. When we got back we had a bit of a gingerbread making session, and every cutter we have was used by the children.

I’ve tried to keep on top of Christmas planning so far. I’m a real list person so have lists of stocking fillers and Christmas presents, Christmas card list and a menu for Christmas Day. I love being organised and half the fun is the planning! However, I always seem to run out of time. Although I love the planning side I also feel like I can’t start buying too early and then I end up in a rush.

I’ve been building up my Pinterest Christmas boards all year and now have too many projects to mention. In an ideal world I’d love a handmade Christmas. We’ve already started on some Christmas finger print crafts, been thinking about making our Christmas card, and collecting books for our book advent.

There’s so much more I would like to do but I’m going to have to admit that with two small children the perfect handmade Christmas won’t be possible for a year or two. I like the idea of handmade chutneys and biscuits but I may have to get some outside help and search for hampers online to please my mother. Hampers make a brilliant gift and I’m not sure she’ll think our handmade efforts are up to her usual standards!

There’s at least 7 weeks to go. Perhaps if I cut down on sleep I might just fit it all in?!
