Wishlist – one new kettle!

We’ve just returned from a couple of days at my mum’s house. We got to do all our favourite activities. I went round the local charity shops (more Bob the Builder toys for the toddler), the husband flew his model aeroplane from the top of the local beauty spot and my mum kindly looked after the kids so me and my husband could spend the day at Yeo Valley, more of which later.

My mum has one of those kettles which is always on, boiling water for cups of tea. She is constantly asking if we want a cup of tea. She has a really annoying kettle which not only boils water but filters it too. It’s so complicated I never offer to put the kettle on! I thought I could get her a simpler one for Christmas. She’s just had her kitchen painted white so a lovely new kettle in a bright colour would look great. Her tastes are similar to mine so I know she would love a vibrant colour, a kettle which is simple to use, holds plenty of water and preferably one with a great whistle!

Fortunately she likes a cake or biscuit with her tea so we didn’t go empty-handed.

gingerbread biscuits

I recently purchased a lovely vintage gingerbread cookie cutter so made some delicious gingerbread biscuits using my new-to-me cutter.  The toddler helped me as he is my chief helper and we soon whipped up a delicious gingerbread dough and got rolling and cutting. Despite its age the cutter worked perfectly and the gingerbread shapes were pleasingly plump with lots of character!

What wasn’t eaten on the journey was handed over to my mum and eaten with a cup of tea.

Now, off to browse for the perfect kettle.
