What do you do when your baby refuses milk?

Over the last week my happy 7 month old has started refusing her bottles of milk. She’s been happily drinking 240ml bottles three times a day, and also has a dream feed at 11pm. She’s been on 3 meals a day for a couple of months and I’ve been trying to introduce an infant cup for water and juice but she’s just started refusing everything and I don’t know why.

It’s starting to make me worried she’ll end up dehydrated. According to the packet of formula a 7 month old should be having 3 feeds of 210ml a day. I also read somewhere that a 7 month old should be having 500-600ml of milk a day. Her dream feed is the only one she won’t refuse so I know she’s getting about half her recommended milk.

Should I be worried? She’s a hungry soul and eats plenty of yoghurts, fruit purees and meals so I know she has a good balanced diet. All babies are different and her brother refused milk from 12 months and won’t drink it now, but at least he drinks plenty of juice throughout the day.

She’s teething, but she’s sleeping well, so I just need some reassurance that she’s ok. Time to ring the Health Visitor perhaps?

Don’t worry- the baby always knows best what she needs. Just keep offering her milk and water.

Thank you for your comment. I know she knows what she’s doing, she just seems so young to be that opinionated!
