Thrifted royal goodies

I’m a sucker for Royal memorabilia and have a growing collection of royal mugs. There always seems to be a plentiful supply in charity shops and now it’s a case of filling in the gaps in my collection. Unfortunately we don’t have anywhere to display them just yet so they’re boxed up until we move to a bigger place.

I found this lovely commemorative ceramic mug, which is Burleigh Ware, made in Burslem, England. The mug was produced for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on the 2nd June 1953. The mug is common and the glaze is cracked so I’ve turned it into a candle – vintage yet practical!

The second vintage find is a small ceramic mug featuring the union flag which I couldn’t resist with all the hype surrounding the Royal Wedding. Perfect for Edward when he is a little bit older.

Cute mugs! I like the rounded shape of the first one and the second one is just adorable.

    Oh they’re cute.

Must say I’ve never really been taken by royal memorabilia, but so much of it has been brought out to decorate charity shop windows for the wedding, I’m quite liking it now!

    Thanks for linking up x

I like the Union Jack one and bought a Union Jack item myself this week.
There are loads of these older items in charity shops but I think you are very inventive with how you used yours.

They’re fab – I love the idea of turning one into a candle 😉

I recently found a small collection of coronation mugs I’d forgotten i owned. They were my grandmothers and include one of King George VIII from 1937 plus his brother and the queen mum from that year too!

I love my Royal memorabilia but they’re not everyone’s cup of tea (excuse the pun!)
