I’m having the time of my life!

The last few weeks have been busy which is what I need to take my mind off my imminent return to work. Maternity leave is a a wonderful bubble and I’m glad I discovered the world of parent bloggers to help keep me company. A couple of weeks ago I went to work to discuss reducing my hours. It’s taken me a while to post about the results of the meeting because although the outcome was favourable it all left me feeling really unsettled. In a week or two I will be going back to work part-time. My boss doesn’t think I can do the job on a part-time basis so I’ll be doing job share. It’s on a trial basis for 6 months so we’ll see what happens.

I’ve been lucky to attend some brilliant events lately including a bloggers’ conference at Save The Children. As well as meeting some lovely bloggers, learned more about the work of Save the Children and listened to Melvin Burgess speak. All inspiring stuff and I hope I can support Save the Children and help make a difference.

Last week I received tickets to a performance of the smash West End show Dirty Dancing On Stage to mark International Woman’s Day on 8 March. Now Dirty Dancing was pretty much the soundtrack to my teenage years. I love the film so was eager to go and see the stage version. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The film and stage adaptation were written by Eleanor Bergstein and have received continual praise for bringing issues surrounding class, feminism, and sex to a mainstream audience.

Yesterday I found out I’d been featured in the 10 Must Reads on British Mummy Bloggers! It’s so lovely to receive a mention alongside some other lovely bloggers and feel part of the community. I hope I’m still going to have plenty of time to blog and tweet, bake and sew but it may take a few weeks to adjust to my new life.  Feel free to tag along for the ride.
