baby days out Quinny Caster Quinny Zapp Xtra reviews

Not a happy QuinnyCaster

I’m feeling a bit down today as I took Edward out in the new Quinny Zapp Xtra and it fell over with him in it. Quinny said we should be honest in our reviews so I’m going to let you know what happened.

I decided to test drive the Quinny on public transport and put our Maxi-Cosi car seat on the Quinny base. We got on the bus and I parked the Quinny in the pram area and put the brake on. Edward was asleep so I sat in the seat nearest to him. On the journey I noticed that the Quinny moved a bit when the bus braked even though the brake was on.

The bus wasn’t moving particularly quickly but when it pulled up at a bus stop the Quinny fell forward and over with Edward in it. Fortunately he was strapped in so didn’t fall out but it gave me a horrible shock! There were no bags hanging off the handles of the Quinny so I just assume it was bad luck.

I don’t drive so rely on London buses and the tube to get around so it’s essential I have a buggy that is safe and easy to use. The Quinny Zapp Xtra is very lightweight but also a little flimsy compared to my previous pram. I found that the added weight of the car seat doesn’t make the Quinny any more stable, and I think the 3 wheels are also a disadvantage in keeping it steady.

I don’t like writing a negative review but I wanted to be honest and I’m cross with the Quinny Zapp Xtra tonight!

I bought a Zapp Xtra as i love Quinny pushchairs. I have to use public transport a fair bit as my hubby needs the car during the week and this happened to me once before with another buggy i had, the driver had to brake and i wasn’t holding on to the buggy like i should have been – learnt my lesson well & truly! Would always advise holding onto to your pushchair on public transport. Glad little one is ok.

I see from the previous comment that your baby is ok, thank God!

I’m also a Quinny Caster and I think it’s really important to say the good and the bad, I do that with all my reviews, I always list the pros & cons of a product, that is why we do reviews and not promotions 😉

I did use the Maxi Cosi Car Seat with my previous’ Quinny Zapp frame and never had any problems although I didn’t really fo on public transport with it… I think the frame only brakes on one wheel, not quite sure… will have to check that!

Hope it goes well and that doesn’t happen again.
