NCT pregnancy swaps week 36

Easter craftyness

Today was the second day of our NCT ante natal class. It was much better than last week and we discussed pain relief, how to wash a baby, how to change a baby’s nappy and how to put a baby to bed and how many layers to use. I especially liked the part where we split into two groups after lunch. We discussed what to pack in our hospital bags, leaking, cutting, tearing and whether we should purchase sieves and mirrors for childbirth, whilst the men discussed post natal depression. There was a great moment when one of the men genuinely asked if it was worth getting on the list for NHS therapy as 20% of women got PND and there’s a long waiting list! You meet all sorts at these kind of classes…

I hit the 36 week mark today and by the end of the week I will be full term. This fact scares me immensely. However, puffy feet, some heartburn, itchy belly and the mini tsunami in my belly make me think it’s a good thing it’s not long now.

This evening I made a little Easter chick for the Easter Decoration Swap I’m participating in on swap bot. The deadline isn’t until the middle of March but I’m feeling worried the baby may make an early appearance.*

* this will seem very funny when I’m overdue, bored out of my brain and using up my maternity leave!
